You see it on properties all over town. The bed of rocks (it’s called River Rock) used to help with grading and draining water properly.  It’s important, simply put, because without that bed, the water would end up in places you don’t want it. 

We help clients with this issue on a regular basis –  but – did you know that river rocks are not just for water? 

We had a site with a difficult area. It was an island that is adjacent to sidewalk, parking area and main roadway. The sod had been redone but the areas closest to the sidewalk, road and parking did not thrive. The area had soil and seed completed with irrigation running and no dice; despite all attempts the grass simply would not grow. Now, if we are being honest (which we always are) we can chalk up to this area being reallllly loved by the dogs in the neighbourhood (pet urine) and it takes a yearly beating with the winter salt and snow damage.  

So…….what do you do? Well, that’s where we suggested….river rock.  

The crew lined the area that was difficult with river rock giving it not only a decorative look but most likely, the dogs will avoid the area and if they don’t it won’t harm the rocks, and it will certainly work well with the winter salt and snow.
