Winter can feel long can’t it? Most of us don’t think much about what is going on with the lawns/gardens underneath 45cm of snow and ice but debris such as; leaves, weeds and trash have accumulated throughout the winter. This stuff needs to be removed. Lawns need to be raked to prepare for the season and gardens prepped for planting.
The thing to keep in mind is spring clean up is a process. It takes time to complete especially the large multi-residential and commercial properties. It also depends on the weather….Spring weather in Ontario is unpredictable; one day it could be 23 degrees; the next it is -1 and snowing.
Here is what you can expect in the spring-clean up:
- Debris Removal. Again, this can include the leaves that have fallen after fall clean-up, twigs and branches that we broken those winter winds and trash that got buried under those snow piles. Keep in mind that landscape companies are not permitted to remove or attend a site area that is littered with dog feces. It is recommended site managers hire a professional to clean the littered areas regularly.
- Clean up all common garden beds and tree wells. Cultivate and edge the gardens to enhance appearance and prepare for any planting and/or mulching.
- Rake all the grass areas to remove the dead turf, stones, sands and debris.
- Trim and prune all the plants.
- Parking lot clean up including sweeping of the curbs, entrances and walkways (for a more extensive clean – see our power sweeping services here)
Spring Clean-up services are designed to rejuvenate the property, preparing the landscape for the warmer season to come. It’s our goal to have the garden beds, lawns and planting ready to thrive through the spring and summer.
Lastly, this is the time to assess the property to determine if enhancements such as aerating/overseeding, fertilizing, and planting are needed/wanted. Our team will assess your property’s unique needs and provide advice and how to enhance the vitality and appearance of your outdoor space.
