Giving Your Lawn a “Hole” New Life

“Our lawn is a holey mess” This is what we hear every year from properties and our answer is “Yep it is and it’s a good thing”

This is the time of year we encourage all properties to complete a lawn aeration specifically core aeration.

Core Aeration is the removal of small cores of soil and thatch* from your lawn with specially designed equipment. Simply put, the machine extracts pieces of soil making holes in your lawn.

This is done because the soil can compact over the course of the winter making it difficult to get air, water and nutrients into the ground. The holes help the air, water and nutrients penetrate the soil allowing for a deeper, healthier root system.

Next up – Seed –  It’s now a good time to seed that aerated lawn. Those pesky holes have created the ability for the seed to penetrate the soil allowing the seeds to establish and grow much quicker.

Finally – Fertilizer – Fertilizing a lawn should be completed 2-3 times a year. Fertilizer provides essential nutrients to the lawn which can improve density. The thicker and healthier the lawn the less likely it will be affected by weeds or disease.

Aerating, Seeding and Fertilizing is the key to a healthy, green, beautiful lawn. For details on these services and more click here.
